How Baltic Sea Farming Can Support Life and Livelihoods
Join the Baltic Blueprints Expo, an event that brings together stakeholders to showcase innovations and recent developments, connecting innovators, policymakers, and industry to find pathways forward that enable the sustainable use of Baltic Sea resources and create a Blueprint for the Baltic Sea.
The Baltic Sea is under severe pressure, as pollution, climate change, and overfishing threaten not only the organisms living there but also the jobs of coastal communities. For the past three years, Baltic MUPPETS, COOL BLUE and AlgaeFood have been driving regenerative ocean farming in the Baltic and North Seas, focusing on low-trophic cultivation, ecosystem restoration, local jobs, and community engagement.
- Baltic MUPPETS promotes mussel farming in the Baltic Sea as a measure to tackle eutrophication, recycle nutrients and improve the water quality. Go to balticmuppets.eu to learn more.
- COOL BLUE encourages community-led regenerative ocean farming in the Baltic Sea. The initiative focuses on lowtrophic cultivation, ecosystem restoration, and local job creation. Check out coolbluefuture.org.
- AlgaeFood aims to put more regional seaweed on our plates. Through training courses, cooking events, and vocational training, people are taught to recognise seaweed as their daily bread. More info at algaefood.eu.
The Baltic Blueprints Expo marks the final chapter of these projects.
